Space for BLM
It felt wrong to not use my own platform to speak out about Black Lives Matter, and “just” post something about going carless this weekend when there is so much more important events occuring.
One of the greatest modern injustices is the ongoing wrongs inflicted on indigenous people, suffering under post-colonial (one could argue still colonial with the way they are treated by some) rule. The desecration of their sites, the trivialisation of their culture, and brutalisation of their people is not in the past, and it’s happening just as much here as it is in the US.
I’m committed to calling out racism in all its forms, and I’m only sorry that it’s taken this long for me to reflect how complicit in the system that I am. I want to learn more, and I am going to learn more, about how to become better.
This giant thread of resources for educating yourself and finding places to support is worth your time. I strongly recommend it to anyone privileged enough to have the time and money to consider it.
